This would be the Dambulla rock. Note cow in foreground. Impressive slab of rock, yet not so pittoresque as the one in Sigiriya, wouldn’t you say?

Dambulla is only about 15 km southwest from Sigiriya, which puts it right at the northern edge of Sri Lanka’s central hill country. Stay the course, dear reader, and you too can see pix of the hill country taken during my whistle-stop visit to Kandy!
