Bridges.39

Posting images of the GWB is always to some extent in memory and love of & for Mom. It was, indubitably, her very favorite bridge in the world.

Windows.29

Prismatic sunshine from skylights and other windows at DC’s remarkable National Museum of the American Indian, which I managed to visit early last month.

From the Air.87

Flying home to A’dam the first weekend in October, from Dulles, we pretty much followed the coastline as the sun set. I was happy the clouds cleared enough to give me the view above :-). If you don’t recognize it, just look at a map of the main cities north of DC as you travel up the US east coast. Or look at the metadata in the large-screen or full version of the blog. 🙂

County Views.167

A trifecta: the NJ counties of Hudson & Bergen plus the County of New York. Which, if you’re curious, sits in the city of NY and the state of NY, so I guess it’s kind of a trifecta in its own way too. Hmm…

Small Wonders.277

Made it back to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for the first time since 2009, near the end of September :-).

The Calfire site tells me that the Picket Fire started on August 21 and was 100% contained on the 7th of September. When my friend Howard sent me these photos of its smoke billowing near Mt Saint Helena on the 27th of August, he said residents in Santa Rosa could smell the smoke from it, but not in Sebastopol. I keep fingers crossed for a quiet rest of the fire season throughout North America, not only near my once and future home in SR ;-).

Farewell, for now, to CA on the blog – these are the last shots from the April-May trip :-/
