That carving is fascinating – it looks life size, and seems to have been reassembled with some bits cut out to make it fit somehow – one poor heron (?) lost his head, and a few of the other squares don’t quite line up … they kept the two central figures intact though … the wood looks a bit different on the right as you face the picture … mostly, if not all, teak I think … Paul, you can tell better having seen it live – is this consistent with your impression? I wonder where it came from…
