Hi Paul. Thank you for posting these photos! I was there in 1997, as part of my first trip to Asia. As others commented on your first Dhaka post, you’re showing the street as I never saw them — without people. I remember the brightly painted signs on the tuk-tuks. In fact, I bought a few and still have them someplace in the garage. Do the drivers still do that?

I remember comparing Bangladesh population and land mass to the U.S, and thought that we might get a sense of the density if half the population of the U.S. moved to Florida. The climate and land were similar.

Anyway, I’m happy to see bit of your experience. Thanks for keeping up the blog, even when some of us lurk and rarely comment. 🙂

    • Hi Gary — I totally remember when you were here. We’d only met recently, or perhaps we met just after you’d been here but I’m pretty sure you did your big Asia trip not long after we first met, which I believe was around a House of the Dead performance at LB Opera or something of that sort… Ah such fond memories of my early days as a Californian. Glad you like the photos and thanks so much for the comment! Hugs –
