  Indeed, Sam, those are the streetlights on the hills above downtown Funchal. That photo was taken at harbor / sea level where the heart of the city is, and one of my favorite views from my apartment is of those hills, both by day (no lights) and by night (what you see here). Glad you’re enjoying the pics.
