Urban Entrances.184

At the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, one follows those white curvey white lines of paving stones to go through the high entryway next to the downward spiral slide, then walks through one of the rotating glass doors below to enter the indoor space, which when we visited early last month was hosting one of the most captivating exhibits I’ve ever experienced, called “Amazonia.” (Along with a personally-moving photo exhibit from a gay NYC artist active in the 1970s and 1980s, and an exhibit on the long history of commercial sex work which, for me, was actually the least captivating of the three.)

Signs of the City.123

July 5, 2025 in Minden, Germany. A train re-routing due to track problems allowed me half an hour to walk around this mid-sized city en route between Berlin and Amsterdam, thus having the chance to appreciate how many more cultural and free-time activities might be available in such a city than when, say, I myself first spent time in Germany back in 1980. A further joy that day: my arrival in Amsterdam was still on time; nay, one minute early.
