Above, you’re seeing the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea in Turkmenistan (not far from a city called Türkmenbaşy, according to my in-flight map), as seen out the window during my long Bangkok to Amsterdam flight yesterday. Below, you’re seeing photos of the Turkmen desert as we flew west towards the shot above, and any photos I took during out flight over the sea, including when we flew over its western shore above Azerbaijan, fairly close to Baku. (If you’re on a bigger screen or in ‘full view’ mode, the photos are in order from east to west; if on phone simple mode, top to bottom should be east to west.) This was fun for me, because it was by far the clearest weather I’ve had when over-flying the Caspian sea, so as you’ll notice, I enjoyed looking out the window :-).
All from my December 4 flight A’dam – Doha en route to BD. As I recall, the sunset was over Iraq, and the city-lights shots below are at the top of the Persian Gulf, I remember thinking it was probably Kuwait City, but can’t be sure.
Final shots from last June’s short Rome visit: above, a bay on the west coast of Italy heading south, and below, over the alps then about to land in Amsterdam a few days later. If you’re viewing this on your phone, you might see how you like the “full view” now and then – that way, you’d see circles of smaller photos below and a larger photo above, instead of four square same-sized photos top to bottom. Just sayin’ :-).
I know it doesn’t show anything recognizable but for some strange reason I like this photo enough that I want to share it. It’s somewhere in the air between Beijing and Amsterdam back in March, but given the time zone changes and that the entire 12+-hour flight was in daylight, I’m really not sure where this was :-). (Left Beijing at 11:30 or so, landed A’dam 17:30 or so.)
