Ah, Royalty.15

Sculpture in that previously mentioned “Parc Royal” of Brussels. Sits right next to the actual royal palace, but I didn’t manage to get over there for a shot of it. Sorry…next time?

City Views.215

Look closely and you’ll see these two photos were taken in the same park, looking in different directions: above, looking back at KL’s iconic Petronas Towers; below, looking at the Christmas Tree from behind the towers, looking out at the park. (Tip: look in the water.)

Mountains.25

As noted a few posts ago, I’ve been traveling again for work, thus a new photo of Penang Hill (of which we showed you lots and lots in posts from my last visit) as seen, this time, from the air as we approached our landing at Penang Int’l Airport on Tuesday evening two weeks ago, already. This photo taken, as it happens, more or less precisely three weeks after the photo in yesterday’s post, of different mountains on a different island off a different continent. And you wonder why my head gets mixed up sometimes…

More photos from Connemara National Park, promised a couple days ago 🙂

From the Air.34

So last week I flew off for some visits to our project locations again, changing planes in Doha. This meant we flew over some parts of Iraq I’ve come to know a bit, and I’m reasonably confident that the city you see here by night is Erbil, though the in-flight map didn’t identify enough cities to confirm this hypothesis.

Islands.44

Looking mostly north, I think, from the northwestern side of Inishmore, which may mean that some of those mountains are in Connemara National Park, of which we’ve shown you a taste in a prior post and have much more to share in future posts 🙂

Urban Canals.153

Point 1: I realized to my chagrin that I skipped this series in the last number cycle, so we’re catching up; Point 2: The oldest canals have been collapsing bit by bit, so the city of A’dam has a massive multi-year budget to slowly shore them up, since the center city’s canals and streets are so old that they were never built for the sheer volume of tourists, buses, cars, etc that load the roads alongside them now – this being an example of the repairs on one canal in the heart of the old city.
