Lake Living.1
So a thing I’ve learned about choosing to post every day is that folks start to assume you’ll post from where you are. For example, when I posted a last “county view” item two days ago, my brother pointed out that it wasn’t from this county I’m in now. He knows this because that travel I documented yesterday – two of the three photos, in any case – brought me back to the Midwest to spend some time celebrating his birthday with him near the shores of Geneva Lake in a town called Williams Bay which is not far from the town called Lake Geneva. Yes, you read that right. Naming confusions notwithstanding (it does make a certain kind of sense, once you’ve sorted it out), it’s lovely to be able to hang out along and near the shores of these lovely lakes, even sometimes on these lovely lakes. (We did a morning paddle on neighboring Lake Como yesterday, but as I was on a paddleboard for the first time in my life, I left the phone aka camera in the car…) So anyway, now I’ll be trying to show you some of the lake views for a while. This being Wisconsin, there may well be other lakes in my immediate future. Enjoy. 🙂
Covid Travel.1
Well, now that I’ve been on four flights during times of covid, I figure I might as well show a few of you who are avoiding airports what it’s like: still mostly empty. On July 4, I flew Dhaka->Dubai->Chicago->SF. Then two days ago I flew SF -> Chicago to spend some time with family in Wisconsin for birthdays and such. There are a few more people in airports now than I saw when I came back into the country in July – in both O’Hare and SFO. It’s a bit sad and a bit alienating, but probably a good deal lower risk than many activities that lots of folks are doing now…and the flights are mighty inexpensive. It does all get a bit exhausting, though, doesn’t it…?

County Views.2
I promise this won’t be all smokey skies, but this is the current reality and sometimes one has to stop and capture even the unpleasant moments. These hills are quite close and usually distinctly visible. The good news is the sky did clear a bit again within a few hours of this photo so the sunset was reasonably clear…as seen in the shot of the early sunset taken just about five hours later. (Yes, trust me, a wind and maybe a pressure change really had cleared the sky – it’s a good touch more blue and less gray even if it doesn’t show on your screen…)
